The Mosconi Cup
Often referred to as the Ryder Cup of pool, the Mosconi Cup is a nine-ball tournament with international flair, pitting a team of American players against a team of Europeans players for global supremacy. The 2007 Mosconi Cup will be held from December 13-16 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Mosconi Cup began in 1994 in Romford, London, with the Americans prevailing 16-12. The Europeans got revenge the following year, capturing the title with a 16-15 decision in Basildon, Essex. But the Americans have since taken control of the event, holding a 10-2-1 advantage over their European counterparts. In 2006, the two squads tied 12-12, allowing the Americans to retain the title.
